Inishail as seen from the road near Inistrynich and Bouvy.

Inishail as it appears from the Inistrynich peninsula.

A broader view of Inishail on the left with a distant view down Pass of Brander to the right.

A foggy eastward glimpse of Inishail (background center just before the distant mountain) from Ardanaiseig dock. That small clump of trees rising up from the loch in the left mid-ground is a crannog, a prehistoric hut. There are a couple of dozen of these throughout Loch Awe.

Inishail, which means "Holy Island" was once inhabited. All that remains are these parish ruins, the graves of various families including Tirevadich MacArthurs and bluebells in the Spring.

Also, His Grace, The 12th Duke of Argyll, Ian Campbell was buried here in April, 2001. Grave not pictured.
