Below is a northward view across the loch to Barbreck. Cruachan in the frosty distance.

As beautiful as you may think these scenes are, they don't do justice to seeing them with your own eyes. The next 3 shots were taken midway up the hills at Sonachan, starting with a northerly view and panning down Loch Awe.  Sonachan House is in second picture below.  Notice a stone wall traversing some of the pictures? That is an older road, probably more to the time MacArthurs roamed the area.

A little better shot of Sonachan House.

Below: Just north of Sonachan House along the road, looking south over Sonachan House.

Same position panning northward up the loch. Sonachan, in earlier times, was a site where cattle crossed the loch from Barbreck.

There's not an ugly day along Loch Awe, just different moods.
